Oh yeah. There was a football game, too

When Rihanna was announced as the entertainment for Super Bowl LVII, there was a feeling of excitement in the air since she hasn’t done a live show in five years. On Sunday, February 12, Rihanna showed that she was the ultimate professional with an amazing catalog of music with a medley of 12 of her best songs.

While Rihanna surprised everyone by not bringing out any featured performers, at the very start of the show, she whipped open her shirt revealing a new baby bump, which was a running theme with her and her dancers. As she began with ‘B*tch Better Have My Money,’ she was hoisted into the sky on an elevated platform. With her red robe and white-clad dancers, she went quickly through ‘Where Have You Been,’ ‘Only Girl,’ and ‘We Found Love,’ while fireworks exploded at the top of State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

When she got to the ground, a Balie Funk remix [DJ Klean] of ‘Rude Boy’ got her shaking it with her dancers. She did a verse each of ‘Work,’ ‘Wild Thoughts,’ and ‘Pour It Up’ as she got ready for the finale. With a makeup check [Shoutout to Fenty], the horns from Kanye West’s stadium anthem ‘All of the Lights’ hit and the crowd went crazy. Rihanna got in front of a live band for ‘Run This Town,’ and then got back on her platform to do her final two songs, ‘Umbrella’ and ‘Diamonds,’ as she ascended back into the heavens where she came from.

Rihanna is so effortlessly cool that she probably didn’t break a sweat during the show. AND SHE WAS PREGNANT! The halftime has been universally well-received and fans are clamoring to know when her new album and tour will be rolling out.

Like a line in one of her songs, Rihanna definitely ran this town tonight.

*P.S. The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl in the other attraction of the day.
