Reloop’s RP-7 breaks the internet with a 7-inch turntable
This is a 45 lover’s dream come true
The always affable and never laughable clown prince of Hip Hop, Biz Markie, was always more than just a funnyman on the mic. He’s a legitimately dope beatboxer, producer, DJ, and tastemaker. In the lore of DJing, whispers on the street were that he had a set of SL-700, made exclusively in Japan, to play 45s on. In 2013, Biz played a few parties and brought out these rarities to show that the rumors were true.
This made all lovers of 45s go crazy. They wanted a set. They begged Technics to make them a pair, but nothing came of it. Sadly, Biz passed away in 2021, and the world lost one of the greats. Biz also took the SL-700 secrets to his grave.

On August 26, Reloop shocked the world and broke the internet by introducing the RP-7, a turntable with a seven-inch platter that goes on sale today. The tagline, for the collectors and for the culture, is right on the money. The RP-7 is not going to become a huge seller, but for a niche market, it’s a 45 lover’s dream come true. Instead of hauling a huge set of turntables and a mixer to a gig, people can pull up with these. Not only do they have a wow-factor, but they are sturdy enough for scratch DJs to do what they do best on their records or their digital vinyl systems.
