Paloalto & Yosi dive into the darkness on Mental Health

The rapper-producer duo deliver 12 tracks of brutally honest introspection

Intro tracks are supposed to pull listeners into an album's world. On Mental Health, the 12-track collaboration between Paloalto and Yosi, 'Our Lives' does exactly that. Riding a Yosi-produced beat that sits comfortably between Lo-Fi and Boom Bap, with traces of classic DJ Premier-style soulfulness, the track immediately grabs attention. Paloalto's melodic delivery feels effortless and inviting, creating the sense that something deeper is waiting around the corner.

The video follows the same philosophy. There are no elaborate effects, no AI-generated spectacles, and no unnecessary distractions. Instead, it focuses on the essentials of Paloalto rapping, Yosi locked into the music, and a cameraman finding creative ways to elevate simple moments. The result feels authentic, which is fitting for an album built around vulnerability.

That honesty runs throughout the project. 'FUCK THIS LIFE' plunges headfirst into emotional turmoil, culminating in an ending that sounds dangerously close to a breakdown. On 'happy meal,' Swervy provides a welcome contrast, adding a different perspective over one of the album's most inventive instrumentals. From beginning to end, Mental Health remains remarkably cohesive, a testament to the chemistry that often emerges when one rapper and one producer lock into a singular vision.

Dark, confessional, and unfiltered, Mental Health isn't trying to chase trends or dominate playlists. Instead, Paloalto and Yosi offer a raw snapshot of their inner worlds. and in doing so, create one of the most emotionally compelling Hip Hop releases of the year.
