LOOPY & YUNGIN air their grievances on ‘Kingpin’

Loopy’s museum is full of scars

In 2020, the whole roster of MKIT RAIN got busted for marijuana-related charges. This was especially devastating for LOOPY, who at the time was riding high off being the runner-up on Show Me the Money 777. For most rappers, getting busted smoking weed is a badge of honor, but in Korean society, law and order are highly regarded, so LOOPY, with his “museum full of scars” has had to scrape back to the top after dealing with this problem.

The song ‘Kingpin’ starts with the Korean news channels reporting on the bust, and then LOOPY goes in. In his rhymes, he sounds dejected and regretful, but that’s what makes him relatable. He raps for the first half of ‘Kingpin’ until YUNGIN shows up.

With a beat switch there is a mood switch as well. YUNGIN wasn’t there to get busted, so he has a different way of airing his grievances. His verse is more upbeat and FTW than LOOPY’s, probably because he hasn’t had to go through what LOOPY has been through. Both are dope and need to be heard if you are involved in the Korean Hip Hop drama.
