KEYANA finds the ideal woman within herself in ‘Afterglow’

The sultry R&B singer is on quite a journey

Being an 18-year-old in 2021 isn’t so easy. Being a half Ghanaian and half Singaporean-Chinese singer and songwriter who also works as a model, dancer, and choreographer has to be really exhausting. But KEYANA, with her third single, ‘Afterglow,’ seems to have conflicting thoughts on becoming the ideal woman.

She explains, “Knowing that I have a long way to go before becoming that ideal woman, the roads that I have walked and paths that lay ahead in this new journey make me worry that I may not end up becoming the woman I aspire to be."

"In 'Afterglow', feeling lost becomes the main narrative of my current self - not knowing where to go, who I want to be, what I represent and the fear of losing myself in the process,” KEYANA continues. “But as I speak to myself, a part of me reaches out and reminds me that the ideal woman has always been within me. It is through this conversation I learn that as long as I embrace who I am and follow my heart in all that comes with this journey, I will become that ideal woman and experience my ‘Afterglow.’”

‘Afterglow’ clocks in at just over three minutes and it feels even shorter. It’s a perfect modern R&B jam for putting on some candles and getting in the mood for passion. What that passion is can be up to you.
