It’s been more than a decade since Linsanity caught fire all over the globe and Jeremy Lin became a household name. Since then, he won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors and inspired a lot of Asians to try and play basketball at higher levels.

While he’s bounced around the NBA’s G League and the Chinese Basketball Association over the past few years, Jeremy is now in Taiwan with a goal of rediscovering his passion for basketball in Taiwan’s P.League+ with the Kaohsiung Steelers.

At a press conference being introduced as the marquee player for the league, he said, “I haven’t felt the passion for basketball and felt like a professional basketball player for a long time,” Jeremy explained as he discussed getting sick from COVID-19, dealing with those restrictions, as well as changing teams so often. “So I decided to join the Steelers and I’m really looking forward to the first game to return to an environment with fans.”

Jeremy also said that he was in Taiwan to inspire other players. One of his teammates on the Steelers, Chen Yu-wei, attended his basketball camp in Taiwan 10 years ago. “To see Yu-wei and other players from my camps play professionally makes me really proud, but it also shows that I’m old now.”
