KlapYaHandz’s Izame Siva teams up with General Levy for a AfroSianBeats banger ‘No Drama’
The roots are in Phnom Penh, but there is a distinct Kingston, Lagos & London feel
When international artists tour the Asian region, they get to connect with a lot of new musicians in every place they go. General Levy, a Jamaican-English Reggae legend, was touring through Cambodia earlier in the year with Eddie Newman’s Code Red Agency, and got the red carpet treatment when he arrived in Phnom Penh. There he met Izame Siva, an artist on the storied KlapYaHandz label.
The two hit it off and got into the studio quickly. The result of that instant chemistry is the Amara-produced ‘No Drama,’ which is a style they are calling AfroSianBeats–a fusion of seamless Afrobeat rhythms and Southeast Asian [especially Cambodian] influences and samples. After listening to the song, it’s easy to feel that these two may have only known each other for a short time, but sometimes you don’t need to know someone for a long time to really know them.
‘No Drama’ has its roots in Phnom Penh, but it also has a distinct Kingston, Lagos, and London feel to it. It’s perfect for rolling one up, chilling at the pool on a hot summer day, or just being as relaxed as possible because life is good when there is ‘No Drama.’
