When the heat goes up in June, July, and August, people want to go inside and forget about the real world by watching summer blockbusters in movie theaters. Or at least they used to before COVID-19 and Netflix being beamed into every home.

While last summer people were still a bit skittish about sitting in a room full of strangers, this summer, movie releases are heating up. There have already been a few massive openings like The Little Mermaid and Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, but one of the biggest movies coming out is the seventh live-action film in the Transformers sage, Rise of the Beats.

The movie is a prequel to the others as it starts in 1994 when the Transformers needed the help of Maximals to defeat the Terrorcons. It’s a big-budget summer affair, and it has one special thing going for it within Asian Hip Hop. Chinese Rap superstar GAI, who won The Rap of China, will be featured in the trailer for the Asian version of the movie.

The song ‘比肩而戰,’ translates to fighting shoulder to shoulder with someone. It’s as epic as a trailer for the biggest blockbuster of the year should be. It starts off soft and then in the middle builds up for the battles with the beasts, before mellowing out at the end. It’s always great when Asian Hip Hop is included in movies, but for a song to be featured as the theme for the trailer is very special this summer.
