For the first three minutes of Flow G’s latest video, ‘FEED x CORTEZ,’ the mood is unmistakably heavy. Everything is bathed in deep blue, James Guinto’s Trap production is dark and brooding, and even Flow G’s typically high-energy delivery is dialed back. It’s a fitting visual and sonic backdrop for the song’s introspective ‘FEED’ section.

Then everything flips. The beat switches, the street cameras warp inward, the crowd pours in, and the energy explodes. The second half, ‘CORTEZ,’ is where the party begins. Flow G returns to his trademark rapid-fire flow, delivering bars inspired by the Nike Cortez, the iconic sneaker first introduced in 1972.

While the Cortez debuted as a running shoe, it became deeply embedded in Hip Hop culture during the 1980s and 1990s, particularly through West Coast legends such as Eazy-E and Snoop Dogg, who helped turn it into a streetwear staple. On ‘CORTEZ,’ Flow G gives the classic silhouette another moment in the spotlight, proving that some icons never go out of style.
