Awich moves with intention on her Okinawan Wuman album

“Nothing great comes easy, but when it does, it’s well worth it” - RZA

LiFTED | Marcus Aurelius | 24 Nov 2025

Awich has been standing tall in Asian Hip Hop over the past two years. She’s represented for herself [Number 1 on the LiFTED top 50 two years running], for the region [‘Asian State of Mind’ with Vannda, Jay Park, KR$NA, and Masiwei], for women, and now for the world with the release of the 13-track Okinawan Wuman album.

Fully produced by the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Awich has been making big moves. Her first singles were ‘Butcher Shop,’ and ‘Wax On Wax Off,’ featuring Ferg twice and Lupe Fiasco. On the album, she doesn’t forget about her roots with an all Japanese remix featuring Nene, R-Shitei, Chinza Dopeness, and C.O.S.A. Other features include Westside Gunn, and her latest single, ‘Fear Us’ with Joey Bada$$.

On ‘Shibuya Flex,’ RZA dips into his soul-sample bag for the beauty of a song about one of the dopest places in Tokyo. Also, the three-track run of ‘A Woman Hung Up,’ ‘Ghosts of the East,’ and ‘Noble Lies’ makes Okinawan Wuman feel like a Rae or Ghostface Wu-Tang record with the introspectiveness.

Overall, on Okinawan Wuman, Awich gives listeners her story about how she went from the dirt to glory.
