Through a hypercolored lens and a VHS player, Jakarta-based illustrator and motion designer Ardhira Putra is wowing viewers of the Las Vegas Sphere with his kitschy anime universe. By doing so, he’s showing that people worldwide are taking Asian design seriously.

While Ardhira Putra has been in illustration and motion design for years, he first popped up on the LiFTED radar when he did an especially nostalgic poster for Cassette Store Day Taiwan 2024 last year.

In early April, he was featured at the Adobe Summit 2025: Sphere Experience – Illustration World. His design not only showcased Adobe products but also invited viewers into a hypnotic and technicolor universe that would only be able to be created by Ardhira Putra. His tiger in a down jacket turns into a street scene with skateboarding on pizza, a Japanese convenience store block of the future, and a techno late night trip.
