Dancing is inherent to all human beings. We’d love to dance when we’re feeling joy but the fear of being judged by people stops us from truly expressing ourselves. This is why ‘Marila Berdansa’ exists – A. Nayaka’s latest single is made to push us to challenge our insecurities and live life to the fullest.

“You have to be brave and face yourself. So this is also a kind of metaphor where you have to be able to face yourself in order to conquer the things that you are going through and want in this life," says A. Nayaka in a press release about the song.

Produced by Malaysian rapper SonaOne, the song samples another Malaysian artist, Junaiah’s ‘Kau Di Sayang’ [You’re Loved]. It’s a departure from A. Nayaka’s previous releases – a more dance and Pop-Rap friendly track that sees him emulating the performances of Malay singers in the 1990s and 2000s. Even with his charismatic singing, he doesn’t forget to drop bars throughout the track that really highlight his versatility.

About the meaning behind the song’s lyrics, A. Nayaka had this to say, “The literal story of the song is asking someone to dance. But figuratively speaking, this is a metaphor for when you want to talk to a girl, you have to do it."
