Wu-Tang Clan heads to Clockenflap

The legends are going to show Hong Kong the grimy side of New York Hip Hop

After the first announcement for the line-up for Clockenflap, it was exciting that YOUNGQUEENZ, Tyson Yoshi, and Balming Tiger were on the bill. With the second wave announcement last Friday, a straight shot of adrenaline has been injected into the festival by adding the legendary Wu-Tang Clan to the top of the bill. Other acts that would be interesting to Hip Hop fans are Sister Nancy Meets Legal Shot, the Yeti and Friends Takeover, a Janette Slack Tribute by Eclectica featuring Bunker, and Mixmag Asia’s Arun R.

Bringing the whole Wu-Tang Clan in one piece is a huge score for Clockenflap. The nine-MC group [RIP ODB], is notorious for having a few members miss shows. Sometimes their main MC like Method Man is busy shooting for TV or film. Sometimes others just can’t get across the border. But with Wu-Tang Clan, Hong Kong gets a legacy Hip Hop act that will put smiles across faces and sell tickets to all the Hip Hop kids.

Wu-Tang Clan was out with Nas last year for the New York State of Mind tour. In each city, they brought out special Wu affiliates like Redman, Busta Rhymes, and more. They also showed that Hip Hop acts from the Golden Era can sell out big arenas with ease.
