Hong Kong to host world’s largest Water Parade
KAWS, LABUBU, Grimace & Doraemon will float along Victoria Harbor
In 2013, Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman floated his Rubber Duck art project into Victoria Harbor. This enlarged bath toy caused a splash in Hong Kong and attracted hundreds of thousands of people to check out the project aimed to bring joy and happiness to the city. In 2023, the Rubber Duck returned with a friend and caused mass hysteria again on the 10-year anniversary, bringing double happiness.
Now that happiness will be quadrupled and more. From October 25 to November 1, there will be even more floaty action in Victoria Harbor as AllRightsReserved and KAWS get the team back together for the world’s first-ever Water Parade. Headlined by KAWS’ version of Elmo from Sesame Street on a floaty, the other characters will be McDonald’s Grimace on an innertube, Doraemon on a dorayaki, and the cuteness overload of POPMART’s LABUBU on a donut.
The inflatable sculptures will be 20 meters in length. From October 25, they will be out for viewing in the waters off Tamar Park with a Water Parade Market in the surrounding area. The main event will be held on November 1, with all the colossal characters setting sail on both sides of Victoria Harbor.
