Old Kanye shows up at Vultures Listening Sessions in Korea
Ty Dolla $ign, North & Chicago West were there as well
Ye never does anything the easy way. Over the last month, the unpredictable MC planned two Vultures Listening Sessions in Seoul, Korea and Taipei, Taiwan, and Asian fans flocked to get tickets. Just last Wednesday, the sold-out show was canceled in Taiwan due to “unforeseen circumstances” and it seemed as though the Korean show might not happen as well.
Anxious fans arrived at the stadium by the 8pm starting time, and nothing was happening. For the next 70 minutes, 35,000 people nervously waited to see if this was real or not, and if the rapper formerly known as Kanye West would show up. At 9:10pm, Ye, wearing a mask, rode around the arena on a white horse and a Vultures Listening Session was held. Ty Dolla $ign, as well as Ye’s kids, Chicago and North, created some captivating moments, and then it was over.
Ye walked off and everyone was just kind of stunned.
A few minutes later, the Ye came out sans the mask with white sweats and a hoodie. He was holding a mic and proceeded to do a masterclass in crowd control as he rapped and sang over his tracks, and even told the DJ, “Next” when he didn’t want to do certain ones. From ‘Runaway’ to ‘Stronger’ to ‘Famous,’ Ye had the crowd going nuts because he hadn’t performed a real concert since 2022. He even surprisingly shouted out Drake, and got the whole crowd to yell “F*ck Adidas” before launching into his closer, ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing.’
He signed off by saying, “Korea, this is Yeezy. I love you,” and fans were ecstatic as he performed more than 50 classics over his career-spanning set. Loving Ye is difficult to do because of racist screeds and erratic behavior, but seeing Old Kanye come back to do his greatest hits is a night no one in Korea will ever forget.
