MC Jin has been busy building more than just bars. As the head of Family Style Records, he recently released his own single, ‘Humble Flex,’ while helping launch Lil Cherry and GOLDBUUDA’s explosive ‘DRESS2KILL.’ Now, he's stepping further into comedy with GENTLE RYDER, his first-ever 40-minute stand-up special, and the debut of his new podcast, Laugh But Not Least.
Comedy has been part of Jin’s creative arsenal for years, but GENTLE RYDER marks his first full-length special. In many ways, the transition makes perfect sense. Great MCs and great comedians both rely on timing, crowd control, storytelling, and punchlines. Throughout the set, Jin reflects on his journey as an Asian-American rapper, his experiences signing with Ruff Ryders, and the lessons learned along the way, delivering laughs with the same charisma that made him a Hip Hop standout.
On Laugh But Not Least, Jin hosts friends and peers like Dumbfounded, Jeremy Lin, Simu Liu, and more. The idea is that the power of humor is very important when it comes to facing difficult times, so even though life is hard, it’s important to laugh harder. The first episode is available now, with Jay Park joining Jin for a wide-ranging discussion that touches on everything from their careers to the trials and tribulations of being members of the self-proclaimed SADs—Short Asian Dudes.
