Khantrast spirals into doubt on ‘Fake Love’

Brooklyn heartbreak meets late-night anxiety

Less than a month after Valentine’s Day, Khantrast is already second-guessing the romance. That love that felt perfect a few days ago suddenly feels shaky. On ‘Fake Love,’ the Brooklyn MC lets anxiety run the show.

Khantrast has never dodged honesty. From rapping openly about his mental health to his affection for neurodivergent baddies [he’s even got a track called ‘ADD’], self-reflection has always been part of his lane. On ‘Fake Love,’ he turns the mirror on himself: “But when you say love/ I feel I’m too messed up/ Wait, ’cause I’m too anxious/ Overthink too damn much/ Bae, this a doomsday love/ Too late to save us.” The bars hit like a late-night spiral that is raw and painfully familiar.

The video for ‘Fake Love’ unfolds inside Sunshine Laundromat, a warm, fluorescent-lit purgatory where Khantrast works. Between breaking up arguments, mopping spills, and comforting strangers crying in their underwear, his eyes never leave his phone. Everyone else’s relationships are falling apart in real time, and he’s left wondering if his own love is even real.
