The Bait compilation snapshots the South Asian diaspora
Featuring KR$NA, the Young Stunners, Arooj Aftab & much more
Bait is a six-part TV series on Amazon Prime starring rapper and actor Riz Ahmed as a man trying out for the part of James Bond. Things go haywire, as they do, because he’s British Pakistani, and the world may not be quite ready for 007 to be anything but a white guy.
While the premise of Bait is inviting, the Bait compilation is even more appealing as it features music across the South Asian diaspora with artists including KR$NA, the Young Stunners, Arooj Aftab, and much more. With 17 tracks and 37 artists in the mix, the Bait compilation snapshots the 2026 mood perfectly.
‘Too Bait’ is the first song that attracts attention. AJ Tracy, KR$NA, ENNY, and Anik Khan really bring it. Another banger is the Anish Kumar and Arooj Aftab reworking of a Eurythmics classic, ‘Sweet Dreams [Are Made of These]. ‘Blues’ from Talwiinder, Sifr, and NDS has a distinct Lo-Fi vibe with a bit of slow motion bounce. ‘Shikaar’ has dope Rap verses from Young Stunners as well as a Drum & Bass break that adds heightened drama to the song. Riz Ahmed appears twice on the compilation on ‘SAYA, as well as ‘We Good?,’ a track that samples a 1980’s Tamil classic from Ilaiyaraja.
‘Bait’ looks to be worth watching while the compilation is a great listen.
