ABANGSAPAU had a nice run for a while in 2023, but stayed largely out of the spotlight in 2024. Luckily for good music fans, the Singaporean rapper is back with ‘ONE MINUTE,’ where he lays it all on the line for everyone to see.

The song is a reintroduction to ABANGSAPAU, where he has decided to choose art over expectation and is using his platform to discuss mental health issues. He said of the song, “This track sums up the journey, from being warded in a mental hospital, to working as a dishwasher, cleaner, kaya spreader, sandwich maker, egg peeler, to working in a mental hospital, showering patients, feeding them, helping them with daily activities. All while being signed to the biggest hip-hop label on this side of the world.”

In ‘ONE MINUTE,’ ABANGSAPAU has definitely spent some time listening to and observing Kendrick Lamar. The video evokes a bit of ‘Humble’ with its frantic pacing and hectic camera angles. ABANGSAPAU also tries some different voices. In the end, he’s rushing to hand in his album to Asian Hip Hop legend, Joe Flizzow. LiFTED will definitely be on the lookout for that.
